Sustainable Coffee Companies You Should Know…
With Earth Day on Monday the 22nd we have been thinking about sustainability in the coffee industry and felt it would be a great idea to feature some other businesses in the industry doing good.
We want to thank everyone who is actively making an effort towards a more sustainable future and wanted to pay tribute to 3 Australian businesses in the coffee industry making this world a little bit more eco-friendly.
#1 ECOBARISTA
EcoBarista manufacturer a range of packaging products such as takeaway cups and coffee bags. All their products are focused around sustainability and lowering impact on the environment.
Their home compostable cups and Kerbside recyclable coffee bags are the newest eco-swaps that are set to revolutionise the way coffee roasters send out their coffee beans and that cafes serve their coffees.
#2 INTO COFFEE / INTO CARRY
Into Coffee is an entirely Zero-Waste cafe, located in Collingwood Melbourne. The team focuses on serving coffees and food without leaving behind any waste.
Their second brand ‘Into Carry’, is built around sewing and creating new products from repurposed waste materials. This is an initiative that allows the community to up-skill by learning how to sew and establishes a new outlook on how we think of waste.
#3 THE UDDER WAY
In Australia cafes serve a majority of milk based coffees, Latte’s, Flat Whites and Cappuccinos being the most popular.
Traditionally most cafes will purchase their milk through a milk distributor who delivers crates with 9x 2L milk cartons, while some distributors take back the spent 2L milk bottles a lot of distributors don’t.
The Udder Way creates a milk dispenser that can be installed into your bench and integrates with a refillable 18L container.
This allows your barista to dispense milk using a tap and save cafes time & money while also removing single use waste.
