Aji Filter x Moccamaster

We have received so many requests to make this filter, from both existing cafes to home coffee lovers and it just made perfect sense to create a filter that works with the Moccamaster and of course is reusable.

We found that the fast flowing filter paired excellently with the Moccamaster, resulting in creamy and consistent brews every time.

How To Use Aji Filters on Moccamaster:

The very first step you have to do when you receive your Aji Trapezoid Filter is boil it for 10 mins, when you first remove it from the packaging you may notice that it isn’t an even shape and that one side is longer than the other.
This unsymmetrical shape is in fact on purpose and is because the thicker side where the seam is actually shrinks at a different rate to the thinner side. We strongly recommend boiling your Aji Filter before you use it as this does two things:

1. Boiling shrinks the filter down into the correct shape and size.

2. Boiling removes any naturally occurring starches from the hand-loomed cotton.

After boiling your filter is now ready to brew, add your Aji Trapezoid Filter into the dripper of your Moccamaster and pre wet under a tap to mold the filter to the coffee brewers walls.

Next, add your desired amount of coffee grounds (we recommend grinding finer than usual as Aji Filter are fast flowing) and brew normally with your Moccamaster!

After brewing has completed, let your brewer cool down enough to handle and invert the filter which holds the coffee grounds. Under a running tap glide over the filter to remove the residual coffee grounds and squeeze out a couple of times to remove the oils / any old coffee.
