How Many Times Can You reuse A Coffee Filter?

Paper filters are designed to be single use, some filters can be reused, but only for a handful of times and the flavour is never as good as the first. Cloth coffee filters such as the Aji Filter can be reused over and over for years without any negative tastes passing into your cup.

Aji Filters are unlike any other cloth coffee filter, they are made from a lightweight and incredibly durable hand-loomed cotton and double stitched on every edge. The high quality materials paired with the durable sewing techniques results in one of the longest lasting cotton coffee filters available.

So how many times can you actually use an Aji Filter?

We’ve tested Aji Filters and found they last 2-3 years.

While this seems small, other cloth coffee filters only last 6-12 months. This short lifespan is a reflection of using cheap cotton and only overlocking the edge of the material. Cutting corners on labour and sustainable material sourcing is cheaper but comes at a cost to the end consumer of about 1-3 years worth of usage.

Not to mention the impact on waste, the environment and the questionable materials used.

Cloth Filters EOL (End Of Life):

At the end of your cloth filters life 2 things will start to happen, the first and most common is that the stitching will fail. This is perfectly normal and depending on which brand filter you have this could be fixable by sewing it.
If the stitching hasn’t gone and your filter is reaching its end of life the cloth can start to deteriorate, this usually happens at the point that receives the most amount of strain.
