Aji Filter Plans for 2024

Here at Aji Filter we are always looking for new ways to innovate the cloth coffee filter industry. We love thinking of new ways to develop and improve how you brew your coffee either in a cafe for hundreds of people a day or just for yourself in the comfort of your home.

New Branding

We are currently working on new branding that will be followed by new packaging very shortly.

Why the change? We wanted to showcase our mission statement and ethos, by using design elements that visualise who we are and why we are doing all of this in the first place.

At the time of writing we aren’t able to show exactly what this will look like but rest assured we are so excited to share this all with you.

New Range of Filters

We have been working in the background over the course of 2023, designing and prototyping new filters to suit multiple coffee drippers of all shapes and sizes.

Aji Circle Filter - Cloth Coffee Filter for Flat Bottom Brewers Kalita Wave Orea V3 Brewer Origami Dripper

Aji Circle Filter - Universal Size Coffee Filter

One of these new filters will be the Circle range of Aji Filters, featuring our most innovative cloth coffee filter yet.

This will be a circular shaped filter and double stitched to ensure it’s durability just like all our existing range of cotton coffee filters.

Why a circle?

Back to some early geometry, a circle can fit 4x equal sized triangles (in this case a cone). So to create a cone from a circle you can quite easily fold the filter into itself and just like magic you have a cone ready to be used for your next brew.

Having a slightly larger sized circle filter allows you to use just the one filter for multiple shaped coffee drippers. While we are still finalising the design we have made it a priority to be used on most standard coffee drippers such as: Conical (Hario V60), Flat Bottom (Kalita Wave dripper & Orea V3) as well as other drippers that utilise 01 & 02 size / 1-2 & 1-4 Cup / 155 & 185 wave size filters.

What else is out there?

Currently, coffee drippers are released with a paper coffee filter or that utilises an already readily available coffee filter but to our knowledge there is currently no other coffee filter that can be used on so many different sized and shaped coffee drippers.

Why use Cotton?

Short answer: It’s kind of our thing ;)

Long answer: Cotton has many benefits, the main is that it can be reused over and over again with very little change to the flavour.

The second benefit is that it has a very unique flavour profile, by using a hand-loomed cotton with larger hole sizes you allow more oils from the coffee to pass through resulting in a heightened texture and creaminess.

The final answer to this question is that we have partnered with a Social Enterprise for all our cotton purchases, this means that the profits generated from the sales of our Aji Filters goes back into building the producers and community in Bihar, India.

Partnerships

We will be partnering with some AWESOME companies in the industry, Coffee Roasters, international coffee businesses and even sponsoring some industry events.

One of these events will be the first will be the first edition of Barista Games a competition showcasing thrilling real-world challenges where baristas will battle it out for our entertainment.

If you are wanting to work with us or are looking to collaborate make sure to get in touch with us as we would love to hear from you.

What else is to come?

We have plenty more we wish we could tell you, but all in good time. Make sure you are signed up to our mailing list to be the first to know.
